Call For Papers

You are invited to submit a paper to the first IEEE Computer Society Bioinformatics (CSB2002) Conference. The conference's goal is to present cutting edge computational biology research to the largest group of computer scientists in the world. While such research has an interdisciplinary character, CSB2002 emphasizes the computational aspects of bioinformatics research. Computer science papers must show biological relevance, and biology papers must stress the computational contribution to the results.

Accepted papers will be scheduled for 30-minute podium presentations, and will be published in the conference proceedings. Ten accepted papers selected by the Program Committee will be published in the Journal of Bioinformatics and Computational Biology. Topics of interest include (but are not limited to):

  • Machine learning
  • String & Graph Algorithms
  • Data Mining
  • Robotics
  • Pattern Recognition
  • Stochastic Modeling
  • Data Visualization
  • Genomics and Proteomics
  • Evolution and Phylogenetics
  • Gene Expression Pathways
  • Regulatory Networks
  • Molecular Structures & Interactions
  • Comparative Genomics
  • Genotyping and SNP Discovery

Papers are limited to 12 pages, single spaced, in 10 point type, including title, abstract (250 words or less), figures, tables, text, and bibliography. The IEEE Computer Society author guidelines for proceedings manuscripts can be found at http://computer.org/cspress/instruct.htm. Accepted papers will receive additional formatting and submission instructions from the proceedings production editor. Submit papers electronically to bioinformatics@computer.org in either postscript or PDF format. The cover letter should include your postal and e-mail addresses, and a phone number.

The Best Paper, selected by the Program Committee and sponsored by Hewlett-Packard Company, will be announced at the awards ceremony on August 16th at 5:00 PM. The first author will receive an HP Laptop computer.

Submissions must be received no later than April 15, 2002. Authors will be notified of their submission's status by May 15, 2002, and final corrected versions must be received by June 1, 2002.
