INFORMATION FOR AUTHORS OF REGULAR PAPERS
Submit original (not published or submitted elsewhere) papers of 3000-5000 words. Include the title of the paper, the name and affiliation of each author, a 150-word abstract, and up to 8 keywords. Include also the name, address, telephone and fax numbers, and e-mail address of the author responsible for correspondence of the paper.

All regular papers must be submitted via the Web in PDF or portable Postscript format with no encoding, condensing, or encapsulation. Use TrueType 1 fonts wherever possible. Do not use bitmapped versions of fonts such as Computer Modern if you can avoid it. Some printer drivers have settings that directly address the portability issue, offering the options for "optimizing speed" or "optimizing portability". You should select the "optimize for portability" setting(s) wherever possible. Word processor or LaTeX source files will not be accepted.

The extended deadline of submission was March 9, 2001.

Please notify thtse@hku.hk if you have any problem in online submission.
INFORMATION FOR AUTHORS OF INDUSTRIAL ABSTRACTS
The objective of industrial abstracts is to report on-going work, describe practical experiences, introduce new ideas to provoke further validation, or state positions on controversial issues. Authors will have a 6-minute presentation and a 4-minute discussion at the conference. Accepted abstracts will be published in the conference proceedings. Submit a 3-page abstract, including the title, authors' names, affiliations, addresses, telephone and fax numbers, and e-mail addresses.

 INFORMATION FOR WORKSHOP ORGANIZERS
A major feature of COMPSAC 2001 will be half- and full-day participative workshops. These workshops will enable leading-edge issues to be explored in depth. Every participant will be expected to submit either a short position paper or a list of "burning issues". The position papers will be published in a second volume of the Proceedings of COMPSAC 2001.

Organizers should submit workshop proposals, including the title, workshop rationale, goals, how participants will be solicited and position papers handled, workshop activities, expected workshop output, plans for publication, organizer's contact information, and past experience of operating workshops.

The extended deadline of submission was March 9, 2001.

Submit workshop proposals via e-mail in plain text to:

 INFORMATION FOR PANEL ORGANIZERS
Panel sessions on important topics will be held in parallel with the paper sessions. There is no formal format for panel proposals. The following serves only as a general guideline for the contents. Proposers may tailor-make their proposals to cater for any specific characteristics of the panels.
  • Title of the panel session.
  • A 150-word scope statement, outlining the theme of the panel session and topics for discussion.
  • Proposed chair and members of the panel, with their affiliations.
  • Any further details of the discussions among the proposed panel members. For example, will each panel member represent a certain sector of the computer software community, or how will the discussion topics be shared among panel members?
  • Contact details of the panel chair or the panel organizer.

In the past, each panel session session lasted for 1.5 hours. We did not have a formal limit for the number of panelists, but 4 people, including the chair, appeared to be the natural norm. In this way, we could allow time for questions and discussions from the audience.

The extended deadline of submission was March 9, 2001.
