BACKGROUND


COMPSAC is a major international forum for researchers, practitioners, managers, and policy makers interested in computer software and applications. It was first held in Chicago in 1977, and since then it has been one of the major forums for academia, industry, and government to discuss the state of art, new advances, and future trends in software technologies and practices.  The technical program includes keynote addresses, research papers, industrial case studies, panel discussions and fast abstracts. It also includes a number of workshops on emerging important topics.

  • June 25, 2004: Acceptance notification to authors of fast abstract papers

  • July 22, 2004: Extended deadline for camera-ready copies of accepted regular, workshop, and fast abstract papers, workshop organizers' remarks, panel organizers' scope statements, and panelists' position papers

 INFORMATION FOR AUTHORS OF REGULAR PAPERS


Submit original papers (not published or submitted elsewhere) of 3000
-5000 words. Include the title of the paper, the name and affiliation of each author, a 150-word abstract, and up to 8 keywords. The format of your submission must follow the IEEE conference proceedings guidelines which are available at http://computer.org/author/psguide.htm. The authors of a number of selected papers of special merit will be invited to submit an extended version of their papers for possible publication in a special journal issue.

INFORMATION FOR AUTHORS OF FAST ABSTRACTS


The objective of fast abstracts is to report on-going work, describe practical experience, introduce new ideas to provoke further validation, or state positions on controversial issues. Each fast abstract can have a maximum of two pages. The format must follow the IEEE conference proceedings guidelines which are available at http://computer.org/author/psguide.htm.  INFORMATION FOR AUTHORS FROM HONG KONG AND MAINLAND CHINA


Authors and panelists from Hong Kong and mainland China are invited to apply for the reduction of registration fee for COMPSAC 2004.

  • The registration fee reduction scheme is sponsored by the Croucher Foundation in Hong Kong.
  • Each eligible applicant who is an author of a full paper/fast abstract, or a panelist, will be given an award of no less than US$300 to subsidize the registration fee.  The actual amount will depend on the number of applications.
  • Each person is limited to one application even though he/she may be involved with more than one paper or panel.
  • Authors still have to pay the full registration fee by July 29,  2004 as required by COMPSAC.  The award will be issued to the successful candidate as a refund when attending COMPSAC 2004.

The registration fee (including the student registration fee) covers admission to all technical sessions (including all workshop sessions), a copy of the proceedings with all the regular and workshop papers and fast abstracts, lunch on each of the three days, the welcome reception on September 27, the dinner banquet on September 29, and all the breaks.
