About IEEE Congress on Services (SERVICES 2008)

The two flagship conferences, ICWS 2008 &SCC 2008, are strategically part of SERVICES 2008. While ICWS &SCC will continue to focus on high-quality research and industry paper sessions, the theme of SERVICES is to support them and further explore the science and technology of Services in the field of Services Computing, which has been formally promoted by IEEE Computer Society since 2003. From a technology foundation perspective, Services Computing has become the default discipline for the emerging modern services science. In addition to Demos, Exhibits, a Job Fair,  and IEEE Body of Knowledge (BoK) on Services Computing, SERVICES 2008 will include the following key events:

Services University
"Services University" (servicesuniversity.org) was launched at IEEE Congress on Services (SERVICES 2007) to help teach Services Computing discipline in a systematic way. A Regional leaders community will be formed to support this worldwide "Services University" program. It is fully sponsored by IEEE Technical Committee on Services Computing , IBM Research and other sponsors.

2008 IEEE Education Methodology Summit on Services Computing
The Education Methodology Summit on Services Computing brings educators and practitioners around the world together to share their experiences in Services related education, and builds consensus on the core of Services Computing Education, the knowledge areas and education methodologies. The Summit will focus on pedagogical implications of Services Education and its role in overall curriculum development.

2008 IEEE Services Computing Contest
The 2008 IEEE International Services Computing Contest (SCContest 2008, http://iscc.servicescomputing.org/2008/ ) will focus on using the SOA methodologies and tools to better solve today's business issues and bring together world-wide talented students for the industry wave. The top six winners of the contest will be announced at SERVICES 2008 (Hawaii and Beijing). In addition, the technical papers of the winners will be published in the proceedings of IEEE Congress on Services (SERVICES 2008) as a special section.

2008 IEEE SOA Industry Summit
The 2008 IEEE SOA Industry Summit encourages industry people to submit presentations and two-page papers instead of 8-page research reports. The accepted papers will be published in the IEEE Congress on Services (SERVICES 2008) as a special section.  The theme of IEEE SOA Industry Summit is Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) .

2008 IEEE Services Computing Workshops (SCW 2008)
SERVICES 2008 will include a set of workshops focusing on various themes of Services Computing and Web services. All the accepted workshop papers will be published in the proceedings of IEEE Congress on Services (SERVICES 2008) as a special section.

2008 EEE Ph.D. Symposium on Services Computing
SERVICES 2008 will provide the IEEE Ph.D. Symposium on Services Computing as a forum encouraging Ph.D. students and holders to report on-going or completed work. All the accepted papers and demos will be published in the proceedings of IEEE Congress on Services (SERVICES 2008) as a special section.

2008 IEEE Symposium on SOA Standards

SERVICES 2008 will favor the 2008 IEEE Symposium on SOA Standards as a forum for international researchers and practitioners to discuss and establish standards around SOA. All the accepted papers will be published in the proceedings of IEEE Congress on Services (SERVICES 2008) as a special section for SOA standards.
