WIMOB 2011 WORKSHOPS

The First International Workshop on Wireless Communication and Networking Technologies for Rural Enrichment
(WiTRUE-2011)

The International workshop on Wireless Communication and Networking Technologies for Rural Enrichment (WiTRUE-2011) shall be co-located with the 7th IEEE International Conference on Wireless and Mobile Computing, Networking and Communications (WiMob 2011), on 10th Oct 2011. The WiTRUE 2011 will focus on the various technological solutions being researched and developed across the globe to address rural challenges and identify channels that can directly benefit the rural masses.

The objective of the workshop is to bring together under one roof researchers, academia, administrators, NGO's and other like minded people with a common objective of using tomorrows technologies for today's rural development. There have been several small pockets of technology use for rural development in the areas of agriculture, education, self-help, empowerment etc. The focus of this workshop is to not only to make these innovations reach the rural folks around the globe, but also to provide a platform where new rural development ideas can germinate and grow. Along with highlighting and bringing in focus the various technologies that are already being used on the field for rural benefits, the workshop will also focus on future technological trends to assist rural development. The workshop will hence provide a platform for discussion on basic challenges faced by rural population in the area of health, education, security, earnings and sustainability and the different technological advances being undertaken to address them.

Authors are encouraged to send their papers describing original and unpublished work in the areas which are closely related to Technologies to address potential Rural development challenges. The list of topics includes, but are not restricted to

  • Precision agriculture
  • Wireless sensor networks
  • Cell phone based Sensor Networks

The Second International Workshop on the Performance Enhancements in MIMO-OFDM Systems (PEMOS 2011)

Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) is a promising modulation technique for high data rate wireless transmission. OFDM combined with multiple antennas at the transmitter and receiver (i.e., MIMO) to increase the diversity gain and/or to enhance the system’s performance on time-variant and frequency-selective fading channels, resulting in a MIMO-OFDM configuration. Combining both techniques results in an overall performance enhancement. This workshop brings together academics and active research and development professionals working in the field of wireless communications to promote research ideas and possible collaborations. Audience will be exposed to many performance optimizations in MIMO-OFDM systems and will be able to recognize the impact of such enhancements on the reliability and the efficiency of various MIMO-OFDM standards.

PEMOS 2011 will introduce the research community (industry, academia, and government) to the cutting edge research in the latest wireless communications ‘standards including the Long Term Evolution (LTE) and to promote teams’ collaborations among organizations that have relevant expertise to conduct an advanced research in this area.
