Location

Nanjing city is the capital of Jiangsu province, China. Located in the lower Yangtze River drainage basin and Yangtze River Delta economic zone, Nanjing has always been one of China's most important cities. With a regional history of over 6,000 years, Nanjing has become a famous historical and cultural city since it was established 2,500 years ago. Apart from having been the capital of China for six dynasties and of the Republic of China, Nanjing has also served as a national hub of education, research, transportation and tourism throughout history. It will also host the 2014 Summer Youth Olympics. With an urban population of about six million, Nanjing is the second largest commercial center in the East China region.

Nanjing is a city of excellent specialists for scientific education. As one of the four scientific research education cities in the country, Nanjing has 41 general higher universities with over 600,000 students. The portion of students in every ten thousand people ranks first in cities of China. Moreover, there are more than 540 various scientific research organizations in Nanjing with 530,000 research staffs.

Travel Information

There are high-speed railways or airlines linking Nanjing City and other biggest cities in China domestic. Nanjing has always been one of China's most important cities. In traffic, it is 70 minutes between Shanghai and Nanjing by high-speed railway. It is 3 hours and 46 minutes between Beijing and Nanjing by high-speed railway, or 2 hours by airline. It is 2 hours between Guangzhou/Shenzhen/Hong Kong/Macao ( Pearl River Delta economic zone ) and Nanjing by airline.

Local Traffic Information

• If you arrive in Nanjing at Nanjing South Railway Station by railway, you can take the subway with the First Line to Gulou subway station or take the taxi (17km) to Nanjing Universtiy, and the taxi fee is near to ￥ 45.

• If you arrive in Nanjing at Nanjing Railway Station near to Xuanwu Lake by railway, you can take the subway with the First Line to Gulou subway station or take the taxi (7km) to Nanjing Universtiy, and the taxi fee is near to ￥ 22.

• If you arrive in Nanjing at Nanjing Lukou Airport by airline, you can take the taxi (45km), and the taxi fee is near to ￥ 122, or you take the Airport Bus/Shuttle to Zhonghua Gate ( ￥ 25) then take the First Line to Gulou subway station.
