About Shanghai

The 2nd Workshop on Applications and Services on Cloud (ASOC 2010)
(November 10-12, 2010, Shanghai, China, in conjunction with ICEBE 2010)

Cloud Computing is a paradigm where compute, storage, and network capacity is made available to users in an on-demand manner through a shared physical infrastructure. It promises to provide an elastic, flexible, yet low cost IT infrastructure for application and service hosting with the benefits of ease of deployment, scalability and service oriented architecture. The resource sharing at various levels results in various cloud offerings such as infrastructure cloud, platform cloud, application cloud, and business cloud. Potentially, cloud computing could enable new business models for delivering new types of cloud-enabled applications and services. Indeed, it has opened up a collection of challenges and opportunities for both academic and industry when developing, deploying and managing cloud-enabled applications and services.

ASOC 2010, collocated with ICEBE 2010, would be held in Shanghai, China in November 10-12, 2010. This year, the main theme is smart cloud services. It will offer a prestigious forum for scientists and practitioners in academia, industry and government to share experiences and visions, to identify new challenges and issues, and to present their latest research findings in aspect of cloud-enabled services.

This workshop solicits paper submissions from both academia and practitioners in a wide range of related topics in cloud computing. Topics include but not limited to, the following:

  • Smart Cloud computing platform and shared Cloud services
  • Cloud service orchestration and data management
  • Economics of Cloud services, new business models, service eco systems
  • Emerging special cloud domains such as green, healthcare, living services
  • Transition and migration of apps from corporate environments to the Cloud
  • Interoperability between corporate infrastructure and Clouds
  • Novel business processes, applications and services on Cloud
  • Application programming models in cloud environments
  • Cloud application and service mash-up
  • Best practices, use cases and non-functional issues such as security & privacy
  • Quality, governance and compliance of services

Papers must be submitted electronically via the ASOC 2010 Paper Submission Site (http://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=asoc2010). The format of submitted papers should follow the guidelines for the IEEE conference proceedings, limited to 6 pages. All papers will be peer reviewed by at least three reviewers. Accepted papers will be published in the workshop proceedings of the ICEBE 2010 by the IEEE CS Press. At least one of the authors of each accepted paper must register as a full participant of the workshop to have the paper published in the proceedings.
