Call for Workshops and Tutorials

The organizers of the IC2E 2023 request proposals for workshops and tutorials to be co-located with the conference.


Workshops

The purpose of the workshops are to provide a forum for the exchange of ideas and preliminary results. Workshop papers will be included in the IC2E 2023 Proceedings. Possible topics for workshops include, but are not limited to:

  • Cloud infrastructure, management, services, and applications
  • Programming models and tools for the cloud
  • Software Engineering for the cloud
  • Middleware and resource management for cloud environments
  • Virtualization and isolation technologies
  • Fog, edge, and mobile cloud computing
  • Benchmarking, testing, deployment, and monitoring
  • Microservices and service orchestration/choreography
  • DevOps and Infrastructure-as-Code
  • Software-defined systems (XaaS)
  • Quality of Service (e.g., performance, dependability) and Service-Level Agreements
  • Security, privacy, trust, and compliance
  • Energy management and sustainable computing for clouds
  • Big Data in the cloud (storage, processing, analytics)
  • Cloud and Machine Learning
  • Cloud and the Internet of Things
  • High-performance computing and cloud
  • Blockchains for and in the cloud
  • Cloud economics and business models

Workshop proposals should not exceed three pages and must include the following:

  • Workshop name and abstract: The abstract is limited to 175 words, describing the workshop and how it is suitable for the conference website.
  • A (draft) Call for Papers: This should include the names, affiliations, and contact details of the workshop chair(s), publicity chair(s), a preliminary list of Program Committee members (with an indication of whether they already accepted the invitation), and a workshop URL (if a website exists already).
  • Workshop format: The expected duration (half or full-day), expected number of presentations, invited talks/panels, demonstrators, etc.
  • Additional information: An indication of expected popularity, timeliness of the topic, other related workshops/conferences, workshop history (if any), etc.

Tutorials

Proposals for tutorials are invited as part of IC2E 2023. The tutorials program of IC2E will aim to introduce attendees to the latest academic and industrial Cloud Computing technologies. Tutorials may cover, but are not limited to, the technologies and engineering involved in the use, analysis, management, maintenance and/or development of cloud platforms and services.

Proposals are welcome for tutorials at introductory, intermediate, and advanced skill-levels, either spanning a full day (about 6 hours in total), a half-day (about 3 hours in total), or a single session (about 1.5 hour in total).

Tutorial proposals should include the following:

  • Tutorial name and abstract: The abstract is limited to 175 words where the contents of the tutorial are described, which is suitable for inclusion on the conference website
  • Names and affiliations of the presenters
  • Intended audience skill level (beginner, intermediate, advanced) and any prerequisite knowledge required
  • Expected duration (full-day, half-day, or single session)
  • Detailed description (3 pages maximum)
  • Statement on whether the tutorial has been given previously, and if so, how the current instance will be different
  • Brief resume or curriculum vitae for each presenter (2 page maximum for each)

Optionally, tutorial presenters are welcome to provide a 4-page tutorial paper describing technology related to the tutorial. Tutorial papers will be included in the IC2E 2023 proceedings. Draft versions will be reviewed with feedback provided prior to the camera-ready deadline.

Proposals must be emailed to Wes Lloyd and Alexandre da Silva Veith, IC2E 2023 Workshops and Tutorials Chairs, with the subject "IC2E 2023 Workshop Proposal" or "IC2E 2023 Tutorial Proposal".


Important Dates
  • Workshop proposals due: March 31, 2023
  • Notification of workshop proposal acceptance: April 21, 2023
  • Tutorial proposals due: June 23, 2023
  • Tutorial notification of acceptance: June 30, 2023
  • Tutorial paper draft submission (optional): July 11, 2023
  • Tutorial paper review provided (optional): July 25, 2023
  • Camera-ready deadline (for the joint proceedings): August 1, 2023
