Welcome to the Terrassa School of Industrial, Aerospace and Audiovisual Engineering (ESEIAAT), one of the 18th Schools of the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC-BarcelonaTECH).

The ESEIAAT is the largest Engineering School in Catalonia, where more than 35.000 engineers have learned their profession inside its centenarial walls. Engineering studies in Terrassa started in 1902. Today, the University Campus of Terrassa has more than 4000 students, 450 lecturers and 200 administrative staff. The Terrassa Campus is located 25Km North-West of Barcelona.

ESEIAAT School has more than 100 labs, covering the needs of 10 Undergraduate Studies, 10 Master Studies, and 4 Phd programmes, distributed amongst 22 buildings in 31.000 m2, more than 10.000 m2 of which are mainly devoted to research.

Two of the Campus buildings will be hosting the 2022 IEEE Services World Congress, being one of them a proud distinction of the city of Terrassa in the form of a modernist building, constructed in 1901 by the Catalan modernist architect Lluís Muncunill i Parellada (1868-1931).

COVID-19 Information

We encourage all SERVICES 2022 participants to take precautions regarding the COVID-19 pandemic, and we politely request that participants wear masks at SERVICES events and sessions. If needed, we recommend the health centers of QURIONSALUD for medical services and COVID testing. These health centers offer the possibility to do the covid PCR test (results in 48 hours - 88euros) and the antigenic test (results in 24 hours-40euros). Please note that in order to do a COVID test, you must book an appointment online beforehand. We recommend that participants book an appointment prior to their arrival in Spain to ensure a slot before their departure. QUIRONSALUD hospitals can provide assistance to participants for any other illness or problem they may have.

Getting Around

How to get from Barcelona City Center (Plaça Catalunya) to UPC Terrassa

- Take the train S1 at Plaça Catalunya station and get off at Vallparadís Universitat station. Then you have a 5 min walk to the university. (google map)

How to get from Barcelona Airport to Barcelona City Center (Plaça Catalunya)

- There are different options, but the best way is by bus:
- From Terminal 1 (T1) take the bus A1 to Plaça Catalunya (google map)

Congress Welcome Reception

Monday July 11, 19:00-21:00

The 2022 SERVICES Congress welcome reception on Monday evening (19:00-21:00 CET) will be held at Casa Alegre (location map), which is a 10 minute walk from UPC (directions map). Casa Alegre de Sagrera is a historical museum, orignially the manor house of Joaquim de Sagrera, a textile manufacturer from the end of the 18th century and the begining of the 19th century, who played a prominent role in the Spanish War of Independence. Although it dates from the beginning of the 19th century, damage from the Napoleonic Wars was repaired by Melcior Vinals, a municipal architect, in the early 20th century. The building's modernist style is a housing model for the industrial bourgeoisie of the early 20th century. The house and gardens have been open to the public since 1973. The Alegre de Sagrera house preserves good samples of the original furniture and houses several art collections from the municipal museum collection, with works by the painters Fèlix Mestres, Laureano Barrau, Josep Martínez Lozano and Carlos Baca-Flor, and a curious collection of ceramics and porcelain oriental, the Salvans collection. Also noteworthy are the rooms dedicated to the writers Agustí Bartra and Ferran Canyameres and the cartoonist from Tarrasa, Mateu Avellaneda.

Congress Banquet/Gala Dinner

Wednesday July 13, 20:30 - 23:30

The 2022 SERVICES Congress banquet/gala dinner will be held at the El Cangrejo Loco restaurant, just off the Port Olímpic, a marina east of the Port of Barcelona, built for the 1992 Olympic Games. Known for seafood, mediterranean and spanish cusines, El Cangrejo Loco is located just off the water of the Balearic Sea, with a great view of the Olympic Port. Join us for a fun night of celebration! Banquet tickets are included for all attendees with in-person full registration. Additional banquet tickets may be purchased through the registration portal, until they are sold out (seating is limited). Click on the map below for directions.

Hotel & Accomodations Information

The IEEE Computer Society has negotiated reasonably priced UPC guest housing space for SERVICES Congress onsite attendees who are looking for a less expensive option than hotels. These rooms are available on a first-come/first-serve basis. Please login to the registration portal to explore options and book a room.

Visa Letters

Please note the following:

  1. It is IEEE policy to only issue Visa Letter of Invitation to Speakers, Authors, Committee Members, and Attendees paid in FULL.
  2. IEEE SERVICES Congress can only issue the Visa Letter of Invitation for the conference. No other kind of documentation will be provided for use of visa applications.
  3. Please allow 3-5 business days for processing.
  4. We strongly advise participants to personally check entry and visa requirements before making travel arrangements, as there might be country-specific conditions that you are not aware of. For most accurate information please contact the embassy/consulate of the country where the conference will be held, in your home country.
  5. IEEE SERVICES Congress will NOT issue any Letter of Sponsorship or Letter of Guarantee if you are required to do so by the immigration department. It is the participants’ sole responsibility to obtain such documents.
  6. IEEE SERVICES Congress will not refund anyone for cancellations due to visa rejections or participant’s inability to enter the country.
  7. IEEE SERVICES Congress cannot change the decision of the any country’s embassy/consulate or any other government departments, nor will IEEE SERVICES Congress appeal to the embassy/consulate on behalf of the applicant.
  8. All questions/concerns regarding the status of your visa should be directed to the embassy/consulate of the country where the conference will be held, in your home country.
  9. In no event will IEEE SERVICES Congress be liable for any loss or damage including without limitation, indirect or consequential loss or damage, or any loss or damage whatsoever arising from loss of data or profits arising out of, or in connection with, the information provided on this page.
