IC2E 2018 Call for Papers
Research Track
The IEEE International Conference on Cloud Engineering (IC2E) seeks to provide a high-quality and comprehensive forum, where researchers and practitioners can exchange information on engineering principles, enabling technologies, and practical experiences related to cloud computing. The conference brings together experts who work on different levels of the cloud stack—systems, storage, networking, platforms, databases, and applications. IC2E offers an end-to-end view on the challenges and technologies in cloud computing, fosters research that addresses the interaction between different layers of the stack, and ultimately helps shape the future of cloud-transformed business and society.
We invite submissions of high-quality research papers describing fully-developed results, and ongoing foundational and applied work related to all aspects of cloud engineering. The program committee will interpret “cloud engineering” very broadly—everything from engineering principles to practical experiences, at and across different levels of the cloud stack, from both academia and industry. We particularly encourage submissions on topics of emerging interest in the research and development communities. We invite submissions on the following topics:
- Big data management, platforms and analytics
- Cloud applications and services
- Cloud programming models, benchmarks, and tools
- Cloud storage and databases
- Cloud processing, both batch and streaming
- Cloud security, privacy, compliance, and trust
- Edge computing and fog computing
- Energy management in cloud centers
- Hybrid cloud integration
- Metering, pricing, and software licensing
- Mobile cloud computing
- Multimedia cloud computing
- Performance, dependability, and service level agreements
- Resource management and optimization in the cloud
- Service lifecycle management and automation
- Virtualization and container technology
- Workload deployment and migration
- X as a Service, where X includes Backend, Business Process, Database, Information, Infrastructure, Network, Platform, Security, Software, Storage, or other emerging services
- Microservices in the cloud
Important Dates
- There is no abstract submission deadline.
- Full paper submission deadline (extended): September 25, 2017, 23:59 GMT
September 11, 2017, 23:59 GMT
- Author notification: December 7, 2017
- Camera-ready deadline: January 19, 2018
Submission instructions
- Please submit full (and short) papers by the full paper submission deadline in PDF format via the web submission form at https://hotcrp.doc.ic.ac.uk/ic2e18/
- Full research track papers should not exceed 10 pages double column, including figures, and tables. References can be additional pages. Short papers are limited to 6 pages, not including references. Short papers should be clearly marked as such in the title.
- The manuscripts may not exceed 10-point size font on 8.5x11 inch pages (IEEE conference style).
- See style templates for details: [templates]
Review process and publication
- All submitted manuscripts will be peer-reviewed. Submissions will be judged on correctness, originality, technical strength, significance, quality of presentation, and interest and relevance to the conference scope. Submitted manuscripts must contain original contributions, and their contributions must NOT have appeared in or be under consideration for publication in another workshop, conference, or journal.
- After review, some full paper submissions may be offered to be published as a short paper (6 pages) or a poster (2 pages).
- Accepted papers will be published by the IEEE Computer Society Conference Publishing Services (EI indexed).
Industrial Track
The IC2E 2018 Industrial Track invites papers emphasizing practical experiences, real-world applications and emerging challenges in the industry on topics of interest that are similar to those in the general conference call for papers. All accepted papers will be presented at the conference and included in the conference proceedings. The industrial track aims to enable broader industry participation. It provides a forum for the discussion of practical issues running cloud platforms or services, and sharing of information and best practices among developers, practitioners, service providers and cloud operators.
Key areas of interest include:
- Design, implementation and operation of cloud platforms
- Practical design issues with infrastructure, platform and other as-a-service offerings
- Experimental data on cloud operations and usage patterns
- Managing big data, practical challenges and emerging techniques
- Platforms and services around data and analytics
- Operational analytics and DevOps solutions
- Experience with cloud management systems, tools, and integration
- Cloud security, privacy, compliance, and trust
- Resource management and accounting for cloud
- Energy management in cloud centers
- Cloud and mobile intersection
- Cloud programming models, benchmarks, and tools
- Cloud operating models including, public, on-premises and hybrid integration
- Economics of cloud including metering, pricing, billing and licence management
- Service lifecycle management and automation
- Cloud runtimes including virtualization, containers, unikernels, event-driven serverless computing
Submission instructions
- Please submit papers by submission deadline in PDF format via the web submission form at https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=ic2e2018.
