The special "future of computing" track seeks visionary computing ideas that go well beyond current approaches and models in terms of potential applications, computer performance, and programming methods. The goal is to start discussions on the specific relevance of these new approaches to future clouds, approaches the cloud community should consider advocating for additional academic research over the next 10 years, tracking rediness for deployment in future versions of this conference. For example, we invite papers describing novel applications specifically suited to back-end implementation in a cloud, new types of cloud hardware like quantum computers, and new ways of programming or controlling cloud computers like machine learning or AI.
The track will consist of a mix of invited and submitted papers. Length of the paper is less important than ideas behind it. We will accept submissions anywhere between 1 and 10 pages, although we will respectfully ask you to extend the final version if accepted to anywhere between 4 and 10 pages. Papers will undergo light reviewing. When you submit the paper, please make sure to check off the Future of Computing Track.
Please submit papers by the full paper submission deadline in PDF format via the web submission form at https://hotcrp.doc.ic.ac.uk/ic2e19/ . Papers need not be double blind. Future of Computing track papers should not exceed 10 pages double column, including figures, and tables, but they could be as short as 1 page. References can be additional pages. We do not distinguish research and industry, there is a unified track. Future of Computing Track papers should be clearly marked as such by checking the box during submission process. The manuscripts may not exceed 10-point size font on 8.5x11 inch pages (IEEE conference style). See style templates for details: [templates]
All submitted manuscripts will undergo a light review process. Submissions will be judged on vision and innovation. Submitted manuscripts must contain original contributions, and their contributions must NOT have appeared in or be under consideration for publication in another workshop, conference, or journal. We expect that primary author (not just any author) attends the conference and presents Accepted papers will be published by the IEEE Computer Society Conference Publishing Services (EI indexed).
