Hannover is located in northern Germany, roughly midway between Hamburg and Frankfurt, and sits at the crossing of major rail lines and motorways. It can be reached comfortably by train, plane, bus or car.
Hannover Airport (HAJ) is located in Langenhagen, north of the city, and offers direct flights to a number of European hubs. The airport is connected to the Hannover Hauptbahnhof by the S-Bahn line S5, which takes less than half an hour. Many attendees will find it convenient to fly to a larger hub such as Frankfurt (FRA), Munich (MUC), Hamburg (HAM) or Berlin (BER) and continue by train.
Hannover Airport has direct scheduled connections to the following hubs and major airports, many of which offer onward connections from overseas:

Train is the recommended way to travel to Hannover. The Hannover Hauptbahnhof is a major hub of the German long-distance network with direct ICE trains from cities such as Berlin, Hamburg, Frankfurt (including Frankfurt Airport), Cologne, and Munich. Tickets can be booked on the website of Deutsche Bahn; booking early often gives better prices.
The map shows the main long-distance services calling at Hannover Hauptbahnhof (ICE and Intercity by Deutsche Bahn, FlixTrain, GoVolta from Amsterdam, and the overnight ÖBB Nightjet from Zürich, Innsbruck, Munich and Vienna). Frankfurt Airport (FRA) can be reached on a limited number of direct ICE services; otherwise change trains at Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof. The map is schematic and based on the 2026 timetable; lines, stops and frequencies may change, so please check the current connections on the Deutsche Bahn website before you travel.
Several long-distance bus companies serve Hannover. The central bus station is located right next to the Hauptbahnhof, which makes it a convenient option for cost-conscious travelers.
Hannover is located where the motorways A2 (Ruhr area – Berlin) and A7 (Hamburg – Kassel) cross. Parking in the city center is limited and paid, so we recommend using public transport once in Hannover.
Hannover has a dense network of Stadtbahn (light rail), S-Bahn and bus lines operated within the regional transport association GVH. Tickets can be bought at ticket machines and through the apps of the transport providers. Directions to the conference venue are available on the Conference Venue page.
We encourage attendees to use environmentally friendly means of transport where possible.
