IC2E 2027 will be held in Hannover (Hanover), the capital of the German state of Lower Saxony in northern Germany. With roughly half a million inhabitants, Hannover is a lively, green and easy-to-navigate city that is very well connected by rail, road and air.
Hannover combines historic sites with large parks and lakes. The reconstructed Old Town around the Market Church and the Old Town Hall, and the monumental New Town Hall, whose dome can be reached by a curved inclined lift, are located in the city center. The baroque Herrenhausen Gardens are among the most famous historic gardens in Europe, and the Maschsee invites for a walk or a bike ride in the evening. The “Red Thread” (Roter Faden), a red line painted on the pavement, guides visitors along 36 sights in the city center.

Traditional dishes of Lower Saxony can be found in many restaurants in Hannover, and the city also offers a wide range of international and vegetarian options. Local traditions include the Lüttje Lage, a beer and a schnapps that are drunk together from two small glasses held in one hand, and the butter biscuit Leibniz-Keks, which was first baked in Hannover. Legend has it that the purest standard German is spoken in Hannover.
Hannover is a major center for science and technology. It is home to Leibniz University Hannover, the Hannover Medical School and the TIB – Leibniz Information Centre for Science and Technology, among other institutions. The Hannover fairground is one of the largest exhibition grounds in the world and hosts international trade fairs throughout the year.
