Manhattan: To/from John F. Kennedy Airport (JFK)

Located in Queens and is 15 miles from midtown Manhattan.

Public Transportation: AirTrain is the quickest and easiest option. Consult a subway map to determine the best connections to take you to your destination. $2.50 subway fare and it is available 24 hours. If returning to JFK via subway, make sure to take the A train marked Far Rockaway or Rockaway Park, NOT Lefferts Blvd.

Taxis: $52 flat fare (plus tolls) to any location in Manhattan. They are available outside all terminals near a Taxi Stand.

Car services can be pre-arranged.

Private Shuttles such as Go Airlink NYC, NYC Airporter, and Super Shuttle are also available. Prices start around $16 one way.

Manhattan: To/from LaGuardia (LGA)

Also located in Queens and is 8 miles from midtown Manhattan.

Public Transportation: subway and bus service (M60 bus) cost $3 (exact change is required) when purchasing a single-ride ticket and $2.75 per ride when purchasing a MetroCard (located throughout terminal facilities).

Metered taxi service is available in front of all terminal buildings. Additional charges may apply.

Car service and Shared Ride Services such as Airlink New York, All County Express and Super Shuttle Manhattan are also available.

Manhattan: To/from Newark Liberty International Airport

Newark Airport (EWR) is located in New Jersey about 16 miles from midtown Manhattan.

Air Train: offers connecting service to NJ Transit and Amtrak trains. Quicker than taking a cab or bus, and is much more affordable ($12 one way ticket).

Taxi/Uber: Metered fare to any location in Manhattan is approx. $50-$75. Taxis are available outside of every terminal, generally by a taxi stand. Return is approx. $69-$75, plus return tolls and a $15 surcharge.

Car Services are also available by pre-arranging or called as soon as the plane lands.

Private Shuttles: Go Airlink NYC starting at $12/person, Newark Libery Airport Express ($16 one way), and Super Shuttle ($15-$19) are available.

With Newark Liberty Airport express, you can choose to disembark at Grand Central, Port Authority or Penn Station.

Visa Information

Citizens of other foreign countries who want to enter the United States temporarily for business (visa category B-1), tourism, pleasure or visiting (visa category B-2), must first obtain a nonimmigrant visa.

To apply, complete the Online Visa Application, Form DS-160 and print the application form confirmation page to bring to your interview. You will upload your photo in the specific format explained.

You must schedule an appointment for your visa interview at the U.S. Embassy or Consulate in the country where you live. Wait times vary by location, season, and visa category, so you should apply early.

There is a non-refundable visa application fee.

Local laws and etiquette
The minimum drinking age in the USA is 21. Those under 21 are prohibited from purchasing, consuming or possessing alcoholic beverages. In the case that a person gets “carded” (asked to show proof of age), it is important to always carry a photo ID with a date of birth on it.

Many local municipalities have bans on smoking in public places. “No smoking” signs should clearly mark the areas in which smoking is prohibited.
